ASHRR, the Los Angeles-based indie electronic trio, is back with a fresh remix EP for their single “Sway,” just ahead of their highly anticipated album Sunshine Low, set to drop this September. The EP features remixes by the renowned Lovefingers, a staple in the underground dance scene, alongside a version crafted by ASHRR’s own alter ego, ASHRR SOUNDSYSTEM. These reworks push the boundaries of electronic music, delivering a nostalgic yet innovative experience that sets the stage for the new album.
Lovefingers, aka Andrew Hogge, delivers three distinct remixes on the EP. The “Rimini Remix” transports listeners into a disco dreamscape, drenched in old-school electronic vibes. Side B offers the “Lechuza Dub” and “Skeleton Dub,” both rich with funky synth bass lines and a four-on-the-floor groove designed for the dancefloor. Each track captures Lovefingers’ eclectic style, blending house, techno, and psychedelic elements seamlessly.

ASHRR SOUNDSYSTEM’s remix, on the other hand, takes “Sway” in a more percussive direction, layering it with a driving rhythm that’s built for late-night revelry. ASHRR explains that the rework began with an electro synth bass line that became the track’s foundation, allowing them to explore a spacey, psychedelic dance groove.
Formed in 2018, ASHRR consists of lead vocalist Steven Davis, producer-musician-vocalists Josh Charles, and Grammy-nominated engineer Ethan Allen. The group has quickly carved out a niche in the music world, merging elements of synthy post-punk, electronic soul, and space disco into a sound that’s both retro and refreshingly modern. Their upcoming album Sunshine Low promises to dive deeper into these roots, blending soul, funk, jazz, and electronic influences into a collection of tracks that are meant to make you move while also touching on deeper emotional currents.
Lovefingers, a figure deeply entrenched in the dance music underground, has made a name for himself with his adventurous DJ sets and his work with the vinyl-centric label, ESP Institute. His remix work for “Sway” exemplifies his ability to take familiar sounds and twist them into something entirely new, making this EP a must-listen for fans of electronic music.

With Sunshine Low, ASHRR aims to encapsulate the feeling of embracing the present and living in the moment—a theme reflected in both the upbeat rhythms and the introspective lyrics. The album features a mix of previously released singles, including the dark and moody “What’s Been Turning You On?” and the soulful “Fizzy,” alongside new tracks that promise to expand on the band’s eclectic sound.
For ASHRR, this project represents a continued evolution, blending their varied musical backgrounds into a cohesive and compelling whole. Whether through the pulsating beats of the Lovefingers remixes or the innovative sounds of their forthcoming album, ASHRR continues to push boundaries and redefine what electronic music can be.
