VENUS – ELLIOT SHEARER {EXCLUSIVE EDITORIAL/ NSFW}

Elliott Shearer is a 20 year old lost and confused creature, who finds clarity in wild landscapes and beauty. He started capturing moments from a young age at the beach/in the ocean. That’s where he spent most of his time transitioning from catching waves to catching moments of the wave he could remember forever. After going to a creative arts college, he really developed and formed a style and still finds himself exploring with it today, from taking simple surf photos to a more refined fine art style, he’s started creating images that aim to express and collect his thoughts into snippets he can share. In the past 2 years he’s picked up a lot of 35mm film cameras and dropped his digital cameras – without turning back. Film connects him to the present.

“I have to challenge myself to think more about how the perfect picture can be created, about how I can convey the image I see in my mind and feel in my heart as accurately and authentically as it may be.. I feel the technology in digital cameras distract me and get in the way of my creative process. If I were to describe what my images represent, I would focus on the freedom and rebellion that comes from nudity in our oppressed society. The power that freedom brings to people. The beauty that confidence and love for ourselves naturally provides. There’s nothing so extreme in our society than to be real, there’s nothing more captivating than self-love. That is what we need. That is what I’m trying to give.”
